MURSTONE BASSET HOUNDS DIET SHEET

FOR PUPPIES

BREAKFAST:  Good quality kibble such as Grand Champion or similar quality if not available mixed with fresh meat , pasta and vegetables.

Carnation milk diluted 1 tin to 2 parts water

LUNCH AND DINNER : SAME

SUPPER: Carnation milk drink before bed

Please note that I add garlic and Rosemary (which are natural anti oxidants) to the pasta in cooking. Fresh Eggs are added to the Breakfast or Dinner meal at least twice per week. Also added is cheese which can be either low fat cottage cheese or shredded cheese. Low fat brands are best due to the calcium content.

When the puppy is about 6 months old reduce to 2 meals per day. Adult dogs should be on one meal per day. Some dogs respond better to the meals being halved and with it being fed half in the morning and half in evening.

Bassets should have a big bone to keep those lovely mouths beautiful and clean.  They also love chicken necks  and  mutton breasts. Please never feed chicken to your dog unless it is raw.

Please also feed some sardines occassionally for the fish oils and they will love it.

Please do not allow your Basset to become obese.
